Prof. Andrew Sweeting and graduate students Yongjoon Park and Jun Zhang (AREC) were awarded the 2018 Robert F. Lanzillotti Prize for the best paper in antitrust economics at the International Industrial Organization conference in Indianapolis on April 21. The paper, “Endogenous and Selective Service Choices After Airline Mergers” (NBER Working Paper no. 24214), provides a new framework for predicting price changes after horizontal mergers allowing for the possibility that rivals will want to change the products that they offer.
