Abstract

This paper reports work carried out by the World Bank to analyze the linkages between urban poverty and transport in Mumbai, India. The analysis draws on a household survey and focus group discussions that were carried out between August 2003 and February 2004. Section I provides the background and motivation for the study and discusses the questions addressed. Section II discusses the target population for the survey, questionnaire development, sample selection and survey administration. Sections III and IV discuss our findings.
